Booti Booti National Park

Our last activity on our way to Sydney was to hike the Booti Hill Walking Track. The Top Walks NSW book bills it as "..lovely cabbage palm rainforests and a combination of steep coastal headlands, beautiful beaches and a flat lakeside walk, this route has a bit of everything and is just the right length for many people who want an interesting couple hours in the bush."  It was all of those things, but we might've not caught the perfect day as it was pretty humid, there were a lot of mosquitoes (that's mozzies for you), and we caught some rain for the last bit of the trek along the lake.

Overall, however, it was a pretty good walk -- amazingly, Tasha spotted a koala in the trees, high up above us.  It was a big guy too--and he wasn't even sleeping!  It was our lucky day.

Rainforest trek on our way to the beach to find the trailhead
Beach bananas
The track starts near Elizabeth Beach, although we didn't find it at first.

Pumice along the beach..
..which is washed and blown up into the beach bananas
The trail starts off pretty steep, climbing up Booti Hill
View from the top of the hill, looking south

The invasive Lantana, the name of which we always forget and simply call Lego Flowers.
The descent to Seven Mile Beach
It almost looks like rain..
The sea breeze was so welcome after walking through the muggy, dense forest.
Wallis Lake on the other side of the hill.
This would've been a great picture, except for the mosquito.
(This would've been a great walk, except for all the mosquitoes.)
Just before the rain caught up with us.
