Bushy Park Hop Fields and Mount Field National Park

The hop fields we did not visit

The original timing of our visit to Tasmania was for Reid to visit the hop fields during the hop harvest.  Unfortunately, his contact cancelled his visit (ironically, due to some other American visitors.)  We drove by anyway on our way to Mount Field National Park.

We stopped at Mount Field National Park where we took a quick walk to Russell Falls before going to visit the tall Eucalyptus regnans -- swamp gum forest.  These swamp gums, found in Tasmania and Victoria, are the tallest hardwood trees in the world.  While the ones we saw were not the tallest, of course, it was amazing and impressive nonetheless.

We would've liked to stay longer - but it was getting late in the day and we still had a fair ways to drive.  There was a lot there we weren't able to explore.  Next time we'll have to walk to the top of Russell Falls or go to Lake Dobson and try to spot a platypus.
