Sheffield Murals

Many of the murals feature either Cradle Mountain as above, or Mount Roland,
the latter being the prominent geologic feature visible from town
The small town of Sheffield, Tasmania has made a name for itself with all the murals painted all over the town, of which there are over sixty.  We joined in with the other tourists to take a look.

It was so bizarre to see palm trees in Sheffield.  The town lies below the 41st parallel
Mount Roland dominates the southern horizon
One of the earliest (if not the earliest) murals in Sheffield, painted in 1986.
It depicts a scene written in a letter by an early settler: opening the door
to his cabin in the winter, marsupials came inside to share the warmth.
There have been reported sightings of the extinct Tasmanian Tigers near Sheffield
