It was a long travel day to get to Tasmania from Armidale: we left the house around eight o'clock to run down to Uralla and get back to the airport for our 9:55am flight. We kept ourselves busy over our long layover, though, mostly by eating hummus sandwiches and watching a Miss Marple movie.

| Autumn colors! It was a beautiful sunny morning in New England. |

| Qantas has a pretty good morning tea. So decadent! |

It was a bit strange to fly into Sydney and recognize the suburbs. This is Manly.
(You can even see the ferry departing the terminal in the bay.) |
It was cloudy and overcast when we first arrived at the Launceston airport, but the sun came out as we headed west. It was really beautiful -- our first impression of Tasmania was that it looks a lot like New England, but somehow even more pastoral. We didn't see too much of the landscape on our first day, however--we stopped in Deloraine for groceries and it was dark for the last leg of our drive to West Kentish. Lots of little marsupials hopping on the winding road as we reached our destination. (Thank goodness we didn't hit one.)
